I would use a 6 sided socket for the best grip

(12 sided is junk)

are you sure there is no nut you are forgetting to loosen?

see if there is a diagram in a hayes manual

you can also try tapping the part where the bolt is screwed into into with a hammer

or use a propane torch carefully (not near the fuel!)

good luck and good for you for doing it yourself

definitely the cold matters...i tried changing an oil filter once without preheating the truck and it just shredded, and it wasnt even that cold out!

A woman who fixes cars? I think I am in love with you! Maybe try visegrips on that bolt?
Use PB Blaster and possibly a socket if you have the room.
try moving the the unit around a little. i see you say you have used liquid. try wd40 or break free. also take your wrench and put a hallow tube on the handle to extend the wrench. this should give you more torque to loosen the bolt. best of luck hope this helps
The bolt is has most likely been overtightened. You can take the boxed end of another wrench and put it over the open end of your 15mm wrench *be careful not to let it slip off* This will give you more leverage and make it easier to loosen. Or if you have a pipe that will go over the wrench that will work too
First of all ..what vehicle is it? (a woman that fixes cars....COOL)

You can use a propane torch to heat up the area where the bolt is...(careful of fuel lines)

you can also tap the head of the bolt with a hammer....(sometimes breaks the bolt loose)

NEVER use %26quot;Vise Grips%26quot;

use a 6 point socket or wrench not a 12 point. 6 point grips better....less chance of rounding the hex head of the bolt.

keep in touch....let me know what is the outcome or for more answers........good luck
I also agrre a female who can fix her own car is cool in my book. Yes use the WD-40 and get a 6 sided socket on the bolt, get a 2 foot piece of pipe for leverage and put it on the end of the racthet and smak it with a hammer or piece of wood.
Hi Kimmie:

If you're using the correct size wrench you might try holding the wrench on the bolt and tapping it with a hammer to break it loose.Or if you have a ratchet with a long handle that might do the trick if you have room to get to it,make sure you have the right size socket on the ratchet...Hope this helps.

PS everything is harder to do in freezing weather.Good Luck

Tony
If you can get a socket on it and add a extension to get more leverage and as suggested tap with a hammer first to loosten as well as help the liquid wrench penetrate. Note it takes 15-20 minutes for the liquid wrench to work, especially in cold weather.

Good for you and good luck.
try a 15 mm 1/2 inch drive ,6 point socket and a power bar .That will break the bolt free
This is for the awsome gal thats working on her car......old mechanics trick for leverage. Try using another wrench of equal length and combine the box end to the open end of the wrench thats on the bolt and crank back on that sucker. Sometimes if strength is not where you shine the most you can substitute it with leverage. Remember, Work smarter not harder.
get a real man to do it
