How hard is it to change an alternator on a 1988 ford f 150?

my buddy wants me to change the alternator on his truck, but i have never worked on anything that old..........is it hard to do?

Typically with Ford trucks the older they get the easier they are to work on...sometimes.



The engine compartments tend to have more room, but stuff starts getting a bit rusty and hard to break loose when they are that old. I'd suggest having a can of penetrating lubricant to use on the bolts, and make sure you bring a breaker bar to use on those hard to break-loose bolts.



Otherwise, it shouldn't be THAT huge of a chore.

as with most vehicles, it is an easy job, about 20 minutes work for the average person.
