New alternator whines and smells like burning wires?

I just changed alternator and new one whines high pitch and smells bad like wires burning. 3.3L V-6 1999 doodge caravan sport. they sold me a 130 amp. They have a 130 and a 90. Did they sell me wrong one and it is too strong?|||Where did you buy it? Sure it was New %26amp; Not Rebuild? %26quot;High Pitched Whining is Bad Bearing/Bushing %26amp; Burning is Armiture Windings Burning, %26quot;Bad Alternator!%26quot; Take it Back till you get a %26quot;Good One%26quot; then NEVER Go to that parts store again. What did Amp Rating did the Van come with? Try to stay with the same Amperage unless you%26#039;ve installed a Large Sound System, Etc. that pulls a Heavy (Amperage) Load.

NOTE; Did you install it? Don%26#039;t let them try to tell it because of the way it wa installed, %26quot;Doesn%26#039;t Happen!%26quot;|||what was the amps on your old one? always check that a good parts store would have asked you for that info first|||you need to compare the amps on the old one,and then see if they sold you the wrong one, they might have sold you a bad one it happens even in new things you can get a bad one,you may just have bought a bad alternator,it shouldn%26#039;t smoke and smell like burnt wires, take it back to them, good luck .|||high pitch whine or squeel???

did you check your belts????

if your belt is not tight enough and is slipping, ti could squeel and even smell like burnt rubber or wireing ,,,,,,
