How do you change a alternator belt on a 95 isuzu pick up?

show pictures on how to change the belt
How do you change a alternator belt on a 95 isuzu pick up?
take it to a mechanic. it is very complex

There should be one pulley that is just used for tension.it's most always smooth and rides on the back of the belt.put a wrench or whatever you can on it to turn it clockwise and it should be spring loaded. It will relieve the tension on the belt.Pull the belt off and put on a new one.
there are different types of pulley setups on different vehicles. there could be the tensioner pulley setup, as stated in the previous post, but it could also be the older setup. if you buy a haynes manual (or clyner, whichever, i prefer haynes) it will have the pictures showing you exactly what to do, step by step. manuals typically cost less than $20. it is not complicated by any means if youre a fairly intelligent individual with any mechanical sense at all.

  • Just changed the alternator but the car still shuts off when removing ground post...?

Got a 2005 Ford Taurus, it was having problems and was not keeping charged for very long. When we removed the negative post it shut off. So we got a new Alternator for it and installed it yesterday, But when we remove the negative post it still shuts off. We doubled checked and everything is installed correctly, what else could it be?
Just changed the alternator but the car still shuts off when removing ground post...?
Your car shut off because an alternator needs a small amount of electricity to make electricity. (The field circuit)

The trick of removing the battery cable to see if it's charging went out with old cars that used generators. Removing the battery cable on a car made in the last 20 years is a good way to fry the electronics which can cost thousands to replace.

Start the car and measure the voltage with a voltmeter or multimeter. You can get a cheap one at Wal Mart. It should read 13.5-14.5 volts if it is charging properly.

First of all, I believe it is not a good idea to take of the negative post of the battery anymore because of the computer controls. That used to be the accepted way to check the alternator, but it is now being discouraged, it can damage your car's systems.

Take the car to the parts store and they should check your battery and charging system for free.
You need to use a DVOM (volt meter) to test and see if it is working correctly, the new vehicles will not stay running when you disconnect the battery like they did in the older vehicles!
i would,nt be doing that too much especially to a car with a computer. it,s probably something else causing it to shut off. it could be the battery that has a short in it .who knows you might have got a bad alternator.you can get bad in anything you buy.

How to change a alternator belt on a kia optima 2003?

need to know where is the tension puller

    It's under the hood, silly!

Does the alternator belt make a noise if it's either too loose or too tight?

ok so a while ago me and my friend changed the alternator on my car and afterwards there was this really loud noise coming from the alternator belt. So we tightened it and the noise went away. But after driving around for a while the noise has started to come back, only it's not as loud as it was before, but it's still annoying.

So does this mean that I just havn't found the right setting that it needs to be at?
Does the alternator belt make a noise if it's either too loose or too tight?
they will squeal if loose :)
Does the alternator belt make a noise if it's either too loose or too tight?
More than likely yes. Your not adjusting it correctly,Or Your not getting everything tight after the adjustment. You need to keep the alternator adjusted while it's being tightened whether it be will an adjustment assembly with a tension bolt or the other kind you need to use a pry bar to keep the tension on the alternator while tightening

    the slide adjustment bolt
yep it will make a noise had one that broke if you drive without one you will need a new battery too
no it prabably means that the belt streched a little. try tightening it again and spray %26quot;belt dressing%26quot; on it ($2.99 in any auto parts store). that should fix your squeak
Typically it will squeak if it's not tight enough, You didn't mention weather or not you replaced the belt when you did the alt. So I will assume that you didn't. personally it's my policy to change it need it or not. Odds are while the belt still looks ok it may be deteriated enough to make it squeal,
The belt can make noises if too loose or tight and also if out of alignment. As if a washer was not placed properly when replacing the alternator. Try the tension adjustment first. Do no use belt dressing. You may need a new belt, I would have replaced it with the alternator.
When you changed the alternator it might have been smart to change out the belt at the same time. Recheck the alignment of the alternator belt and see if it lines up straight. Tension is what most people adjust, but the pulleys are not aligned right there are additional stresses to the belt that will premature wear it out.

Also correctly torque the hold down bolts. Hope this helps.
I would agree with the diagnosis that you did not tighten the correct bolts or didn't tighten them securely.

I would guess, as with most alternators, there are two bolts to tighten, one at the arm where the belt adjustment is made, usually a curved piece, and the other where the alternator attaches to the engine, usually a long bolt and a nut, that is the pivot point. keep pressure on the alternator to keep the belts tight as you tighten the bolts. Don't over do it or you can damage the bearings in the alternator.

Why wont my serptine belt stay on after alternator change?

I had my alternator replaced on my 2000 1.8L Turbo VW Bettle and now since that has happened my serpentine belt has fallen off 3 times. This last time that I put it back on I noticed that the roller at the bottom of the spring loaded tension setter is not in line with the rest of the pulley track. It sets to the inside of the track and is wearing a ridge on the inside of that roller. I was wondering if when they put my tension setter back on after changing the alternator if they for got to put a piece back in like a spacer. If not, what would be an explanation for the tension setter roller to be off track.
Why wont my serptine belt stay on after alternator change?
your belt tensioner should be bolted and torqued properly, generally there's no spacer that i know of that holds it on the side of the block but who knows.

it is possible they didn't tighten all the way and the belt is riding off the pulley on it enough to throw it. Have them take it back off and make sure it is properly aligned.
Why wont my serptine belt stay on after alternator change?
Sounds like they put a spacer in the wrong spot, like on the wrong side of a bracket or something. Take it back and demand that they fix the problem free of charge.
The tensioner is probally bad, they dont cost much and arent that hard to change. However, I would go back to the mechanic and complain, he should help you out with it a lil bit. He shouldve seen it when he changed the belt.
Both of the top posters are correct, look to make sure the pulley on the tensioner or the alternator is in line with its neighbors.

You should probably replace the belt too since its been damaged by repeatedly coming off.
you need to replace the tensioner. it is spring loaded, and the spring can wear. a tensioner onn most vehicles should be less than $50.00. you probably should replace the pulleys as well, as they can wear too. tensioner/pulley combos can be purchased. As for your mechanic, he had to have noticed!!!! He's just lazy! Find a new one
take it back they installed it wrong its not lining up with the other pulleys. Its got to be presicely straight with the other pulleys

How do i change an alternator on a 1989 nissan pathfinder?

you need to disconect the possite battery cable first of all, loosen the belt tensioner, remove the belt, and disconect the alternator cables, alternator is only hold on by 3 to 4 screws, unscrew and it will come off right off......

Hi right; but if you have to change the alternator belt you will have to remove all the fan belts.
